"Wilson Chin's set for the Hartford Stage production reflects the play's layered reality. A huge multi-paned window, tilted towards the sky, dominates the sparsely furnished living area of a New York apartment. Sometimes it frames a geometric cityscape silhouetted against an angry red sky. Sometimes Traci Klainer's subtle lighting turns the window into a mirror reflecting the action below it. And ultimately the skyline is revealed to be constructed of piles of cardboard boxes." – Chris Rohmann, Valley Advocate "In retrospect, Lincoln Center's reductionist revolving set is simplistic to a fault compared to Wilson Chin's surprisingly clever set design, which is abetted by Traci Klainer's lighting." – Susan Hood, Hartford Courant |
